New Online Bonus Rules Will Change Bonus Strategy, Marketers Warn

31 October 2026

Regulators are tightening the UK\'s rules around how online casino marketing promises play out. Affected licensees will need to pay more attention than ever to compliance, as the Gambling Commission begins enforcing stricter conditions around bonus promotion terms and customer fund protection.

Marketing teams that profit when customers fail to meet wagering requirements now face increased scrutiny from regulators. Following a review and consultation lasting several months, operators in the UK are being warned that misleading bonus promotions must cease.

The commission is introducing new wagering requirement limits, capping them at 10 times the deposit amount, making it harder for marketers to earn payouts. Promotions advertising \'no-deposit bonuses\' will need significant changes, as customers will now be limited to bonuses worth only 20% of their deposit, with a 10x wagering requirement still applying to withdrawals, the Commission confirmed in an October 5 announcement.
